Small but mighty: 64 team members from Brookfield Properties Brazil raise over $17,000 to aid COVID-19 relief

We are proud of Brookfield’s global efforts to affect positive change in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is one story in a series of blogs highlighting the various global campaigns and how they made a difference.

Upon hearing about the A Cause for Caring Campaign, Brookfield Properties Brazil’s small but mighty group of 64 team members quickly stepped up to make a difference, raising $17,000 within just a month of joining the charitable campaign.

“We are so happy to see the campaign’s turnout. Employees engaged very quickly, and within the first week there were great responses to the campaign and donations,” said Patricia Beznos, Leasing Director of Brookfield Properties Brazil.

Patricia used the saying “unity makes strength” to express the importance of Brookfield coming together and uniting globally to make a bigger impact with COVID-19 relief efforts.

Helen Cantisano Stort, Finance Manager of Brookfield Properties Brazil, mentioned how it was amazing to see Brookfield come together to execute this campaign, and an exciting starting point for future global Brookfield philanthropy campaigns.

Brookfield Properties Brazil specifically focused on feature causes that aided and contributed to COVID-19 relief in their country, which included União Rio, Fique bem em Casa, União SP and Apontar. These causes were promoted among team members for donations and already registered by Brookfield Properties in Brazil. Helen and Patricia mentioned that their primary featured causes focused on COVID-19 relief because a lot of people had lost their jobs in Brazil, and they wanted to give back in any way they could. These featured causes focused on providing equipment for hospitals, food, funding, clothes and shelter to those suffering the effects of the pandemic.

It’s amazing to see what is possible when everyone works together. Helen and Patricia expressed how they are proud of their team members for showing their support and Brookfield Properties’ efforts to match donations 2:1. As the second month of the campaign wraps up, Helen predicts that they will have an even higher increase in contributions and engagement.
