We care about what you care about

Everything we do is guided by our values of passion, integrity and community. No matter the role our Development team members play, every single day, they show up and contribute to building great communities for people to thrive for many generations to come.

In the early days of March, it didn’t take long for team members to express their concern for their communities. One-by-one, Brookfield Properties development groups’ team members from across North America recognized how COVID-19 would affect their communities and they wanted to help.

We knew that, together, we were in a unique position to provide relief and make an impact in the communities where we operate through large-scale support to national efforts and targeted, fit-for purpose engagement across the communities where we operate.

This inspired conversations across our regions and together with our leaders, we began the work to identify the causes in our communities that would have the greatest potential to provide relief from COVID-19. We also acknowledged that to be successful, we needed toengage our team members in ways meaningful to them. We did this by introducing a challenge where team members cancontribute to a local cause of their choice, in turn challenging Brookfield to match their donations 2:1, with the match portion going to a local organization that we know will play a key role in the community’s recovery.

Now more than month into the initiative, our team members have shared  the causes most meaningful to them via our employee social media app bound together with the hashtag #MyCauseForCaring. They have shared photos, sentiments and videos about the local charity they’re supporting and why.

Engagement has gone beyond a COVID-19 response plan and has become a hub of stories about community and connection, and has encouraged local teams to engage with each other during an otherwise isolating time. What’s most exciting is that this is only the beginning. Now a global campaign, including participation from Brookfield Properties groups on five continents, A Cause for Caring will no doubt surface stories of caring in countless ways. It’s a great way for us to show our collective impact as a global organization that is invested in the place we live, play, and work. Now, it’s your turn. What’s your cause for caring?
